Kendra’s New Shoes: A Recycling Adventure with a Giving Heart is a children’s book about kindness, giving, and helping others. When Kendra receives a new pair of shoes, she and her best friend, Kate, head out together. Along the way, Kate points out a young girl wearing worn, tattered shoes. Moved by what she sees, Kendra decides to go home, get her gently used shoes, and give them to the child.
Through Kendra’s simple act of kindness, young readers discover how donating items they no longer need can help others in their community.
The book also includes helpful information about donating clothes and toys, ideas for talking with children about giving, and a glossary for curious readers. After children donate something of their own, they can fill in their name on the certificate included in the back of the book, cut it out, and proudly display it as a reminder of their act of kindness.
